India’s industrial output records 5.9% growth in May

New Delhi: India’s Index of Industrial Manufacturing (IIP) for Might stood at 5.9 per cent, up from 5.7 per cent for a similar interval a 12 months in the past, in response to information launched by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation on Friday.

Additional, the indices for Shopper durables and Shopper non-durables stand at 129.8 and 153.3 respectively for Might 2024.

The IIP development price for Might 2024 over the corresponding interval of the earlier 12 months is 5.9 %.

The IIP development price in Might 2023 was 5.7 %. The expansion charges of the three sectors, Mining, Manufacturing and Electrical energy for the month of Might 2024 over Might 2023 are 6.6 %, 4.6 % and 13.7 % respectively.

Throughout the manufacturing sector, the expansion price of the highest three constructive contributors to the expansion of IIP for the month of Might 2024 is – “Manufacture of fundamental metals” (7.8 per cent), “Manufacture of prescription drugs, medicinal chemical and botanical merchandise” (7.5 per cent), and “Manufacture {of electrical} tools” (14.7 per cent).

The discharge of the Index for June 2024 shall be on Monday, August 12, 2024.
